Christmas Tree Decor – Warm & Moody Colors

Yes, it’s that time. The time when every day leading up to Christmas is Christmas, except Thanksgiving Day.

Last year, I went with this traditional warm and cozy color theme, which turned out great! Deep reds, dark teal, mustard, burnt orange. It was heaven.

I went in a different direction this year and added a touch of moodiness. Even though it was a new look, I reused so much of what I used the previous year, which prevented me from spending a ton of money on new decor. So let’s get into it.

Blacks, browns, golds, and greens (and a little white).

I threw the kitchen sink (and some spray paint) at my tree this year and hoped it worked out. And it did! Definitely not traditional Christmas colors but I still found it has added warmth to my living room, which was my main goal.

Here’s everything I used:

I still have my 7.5′ Pre-Lit Artificial Dunhill Fir Christmas Tree. This is 4 years old and still going strong. I plan to graduate to a taller tree at some point since we have such tall ceilings but this height doesn’t require a ladder for decorating (I’m 5’7″).

For ornaments, I kept it pretty simple but I made sure to change up the sizes, textures, and patterns to give the tree some dimension.

Gold and clear stripes Since these are larger, I only bought two packs. These and these are pretty too.

Peacock teal is trending right now. I didn’t use a lot of these but enough to add a pop of color.

Dark teal glass I thought these were so gorgeous! I bought six of them to tuck in the tree. The color, the details, perfection. These are pretty too. Tip: At Home had a ton of peacock and dark teal ornaments in-store. Definitely the color of the season!

Black (variety pack) I love having a mix of matte, shiny, and glitter. This pack was the easiest way to do it. Here’s another good option.

Black (large matte) These were the largest ones I ordered at 6″. I ended up getting two packs. Here’s another option that isn’t as big.

Dark bronze Yes, that’s spray paint. I took some old blue and gold glitter ornaments I haven’t used in years and spray painted them. Worked like a charm and gave that warm, moody look I was after! See image below.

Mocha glitter I sprinkled these throughout and the warm white lights of the tree hit this color so beautifully. A variety pack is a good option too.

Gold and brown glitter snowflakes These are great space fillers and look awesome tucked closer to the center of the tree!

Glitter icicles Obsessed is an understatement. These look stunning glistening in the light at the ends of the tree limbs. Non-negotiable in my opinion.

To accessorize and fill empty space, I added things like black berry sprigs, white flocked branches, gold glitter feathers, and a couple of peacock feathers. I also tied black velvet ribbons all over.

To top it off, I used the same star I’ve used for the past 4 years. A gold glitter geometric star – simple and pretty. Here’s another option that’s lights up.

I found the best gold glitter eucalyptus and cedar wreaths to hang with black ribbon on my windows. I got them on sale 50% off!

Year-round living room decor

I’ve changed up my year-round living room decor quite a bit since last year. Here are some links to my favorite pieces.

We have 10′ ceilings in our living room but the tops of the windows only go to about 6′. I wanted to elongate that situation so I went with these 120″ semi-sheer curtains in Linen. Two panels were only $40!

I LOVE our living room area rug. You can’t go wrong with a neutral olive. This is terrible to say but it hides the dog fur and muddy paw prints in between cleaning 🙂

I desperately needed a new TV console. The drawers were falling out in our old one. So I went with this black TV stand that fits up to an 80″ TV and has plenty of storage below. It was easy to put together and feels really solid. Best part, it was under $250!

While we have a lot of wild game adorning our walls, we also have some cool framed prints. I got these cowboy digital downloads on Etsy, had them printed at Vista Print in the size I wanted, and put them in these vintage frames from Michaels. I spent less than $100 to get two pieces of artwork that look expensive.

As always, let me know if you have questions or if I can find a link for you.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!
